Two minutes of prep saves us 30 minutes on-site and you get your report faster. Know what to bring, what to expect, and what to tell us.
Your VIN (17 characters)
Found on the dash near the windshield, driver side door jamb, or registration docs.
Maintenance records
Last oil change, timing belt, recent repairs — tells us what is already done.
Any prior diagnostic reports
If another shop scanned your car, bring that report. Saves the $150 re-scan.
Insurance / lease information
Required if you are filing a claim or the vehicle is leased.
Fuel at least quarter tank
We need enough fuel to drive and test-drive if needed.
Clear the trunk and cabin
We need access to the battery, fuse boxes, and under-dash components.
Remove personal items
Loose items get moved during diagnostics — we will not be responsible for yours.
Note where the problem is felt
Steering wheel vibration? Seat shake? Floorboard rattle? Location means faster diagnosis.
When did it start?
Today? Last week? After a specific event like a pothole, rain, or gas station?
Cold or warm?
Cold-start-only issues are a completely different diagnostic path than heat-soak problems.
At idle, accelerating, or braking?
Load-specific symptoms narrow the suspect list dramatically.
Any warning lights?
Which ones? Steady or flashing? Which symbol?
Any unusual sounds or smells?
Squealing, knocking, burning, sweet coolant smell — each points to a different system.
