Symptom guide · Glass Box Diagnostics
RPM flaring between gears, harsh or delayed shifts, or a feeling of going neutral get rushed to a rebuild quote every week. Fluid condition, a range/speed sensor, a solenoid, a wiring fault, or actual internal wear are four different worlds — and a scan tool sorts them before the pan ever comes off.
Transmission slipping = rebuild, $4,500. It is the scariest quote in the business, so most people never ask whether a $150 sensor sets the exact same feeling.
Typical guess-and-swap cost: $3,500–$6,000 (rebuild) when the proven fix was a sensor, fluid service, or calibration
Read the module stored subfaults, check fluid condition and level, watch commanded vs. actual gear and solenoid duty on live data, verify speed-sensor waveforms. Decide with evidence.
