OBD-II code · Electrical & Network
The computer stopped getting a reliable signal from the cam sensor. The sensor is one possibility — a corroded connector, damaged wiring, or a cracked tone ring on the camshaft produces the identical code.
Swap the cam sensor ($150–$350 installed). When the fault is a chafed wire inside the harness sleeve or a damaged tone ring, the code walks back a week later.
Typical guess-and-swap cost: $150–$350 (sensor swap) when the fault is a connector cleaning or a hidden wiring chafe
Back-probe the sensor circuit and watch the waveform on a scope while cranking. A good sensor with a dead tone ring still shows a signal shape; a wiring fault shows nothing. Ten minutes of scope time sorts sensor from harness from hardware.
